High-level standards to ensure high quality

With its internal management systems, Rail Cargo Austria ensures that its services meet high-level quality, safety and environmental standards. The Austrian Association for the Certification of Quality Management Systems (ÖQS) has certified that Rail Cargo Austria is compliant with the following quality standards.

ISO 9001:2008

VDA 6.2:2004

Rail Cargo Austria is the first RU worldwide which was certified to the VDA 6.2:2004 standard (restricted scope of application in Vienna and Graz).
VDA 6.2:1999 (Vereinigung deutscher Automobilhersteller/Association of German Automobile Manufacturers) is a standard called for by the automobile manufacturers. Going beyond ISO 9001:2000, it requires quality aspects to be met by all partners involved in a production chain.

Directive 2004/49/EC (The Safety Directive)

In order to start up operations, railway undertakings and rail infrastructure managers are required by the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the safety of the Community railways (Directive 2004/49/EC, referred to as Safety Directive in the following) to furnish evidence that they have introduced a safety management system and that this system has been approved by the national safety authority concerned.
