ÖBB-Produktion GmbH is owned by Rail Cargo Austria AG and ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG.

The company’s core competence is the tractioning of trains (from Latin trahere: to pull, to draw), while ensuring the operational safety of the equipment used. Services in the vehicle logistics sector round off the service range.

The organisation of ÖBB-Produktion GmbH meets the three prerequisites for best possible market success: lean structures, short decision paths and more customer proximity.

The organisation is subdivided into the three business segments “Traction Operations“, "Service" and "Wagon Service", which are a one-to-one representation of the main production processes: the key task of Traction Operations is the management of train and shunting operations making use of the advantages of the joint production, while the main task of the business segment Service is the provision of operational vehicles. The business segment Wagon Service focuses on the safe and customer-friendly operation of the wagons and their loads, which is ensured with the inspection of trains, wagons and loads it by wagon examiners.

The accumulated competence of all three business segments contributes to an optimal support of ÖBB-Produktion GmbH’s customers in the implementation of their strategies in line with the respective markets.
