ProRail
ProRail was founded in 1992 and has been fully integrated in the RCA group since 2001. ProRail is the largest rail carrier of wood in Austria and is a specialist for Italian transport. Thanks to its close contact to the Italian customers, ProRail is able to offer logistic services at market-driven prices and tailored exactly to the customers’ needs.
New routes in the South
Selected stations in Italy will be gradually controlled over the company’s own direct train connections. Consequently, deliveries by truck and a complete selection of logistic services such as warehousing, commissioning, customs clearing are real alternatives to pure road transport. A large number of logistics partners guarantee a nationwide service in Italy and in Europe. Direct trains also reach the port of Koper, an extremely important for the Austrian export economy, in cooperation with RCA.
Sawn timber from the CIS
While Fürnitz mainly strives for sawn timber exports, ProRail in Bergheim deals with import business from Europe and the CIS states. Transport from the CIS states is becoming increasingly important given the fact that an increasing number of western industries are settling there. At present, larch wood deliveries are predominantly accepted from Siberia and then transported to St. Petersburg with Russian broad gauge wagons. There the wood is loaded onto ships which travel to the German seaports. Once it has arrived in the EU, the wood is treated in accordance with the customers’ wishes. The wood is then transported by rail or by truck to the customer’s warehouse.
Customer service
Personal customer service is the main priority for ProRail. In 2009, ProRail transported 42,000 goods wagons with 2.1 million tons of goods and 18 employees in 50 journeys. ProRail runs two locations in Austria (Fürnitz and Bergheim) and is committed to quality in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 certification. Constantly developing platform traffic and services guarantees customers will also receive the highest quality at market prices in the future.
