Rail Cargo Italia
LINEA S.p.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rail Cargo Austria Group, was renamed Rail Cargo Italia S.r.l. as of 12 January 2012.
Parallel to the change of name, the company was also converted from a joint stock corporation (S.p.A) to a limited liability company (S.r.l.). This change enables the processes within Rail Cargo Italia to run more easily and faster in the future.
The Italian railroad company LINEA S.p.A., based in Novi Ligure, was founded in 2006 and belonged to Rail Cargo Austria AG since 1 December 2008. At that time, Rail Cargo Austria (RCA) took over a majority holding in the young Italian railway operator, which now has over 100 employees. In contrast to a complete new start-up, RCA was thus able to move into the market much faster by deploying local personnel and experts already available. Since September 2011 the RCA Group has held 100% of LINEA.
Range of services remains unchanged
High demands on quality, direct means of intervention and controllability as well as the necessary cross-border optimization require that the major European rail freight companies maintain a local presence in addition to and beyond their classic domestic market. RCA has taken this step in order to provide our customers with the best possible service. In addition to the trains that continue to be operated together with the Italian State Railway (Trenitalia Cargo), Rail Cargo Italia is increasingly establishing itself as a provider of rail freight services in Italy.
Over the past years, RCA has built up a number of regular transport systems in northern Italy, and today its own operations connect many economically important regions with the home market. One example is San Stino di Livenza, where RCA runs a large distribution depot together with Express-Interfracht Italia. In addition to further terminals and destination stations in the Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian coast cities of Pescara and Napoli in central and southern Italy are also served.
Rail Cargo Italia also has its own locomotives and locomotive drivers, as well as the perfect expertise in Italian rail business. The company’s own operations planning enables fast and flexible action and reaction in daily business. Rail Cargo Italia employs instructors for initial and continued training of the drivers. Together with local partner firms, we can cover a broad spectrum of rail freight services. Rail Cargo Italia offers its customers the best handling of their transports, from the driving of individual rail cars in the terminal locations to the complete management of the transportation of hazardous materials.
