Tailoring

Telescopic Container Stacker
Vehicle with hydraulically operated lifting and swivel equipment used for stacking containers.
Temperature-Controlled Logistics
Temperature-controlled warehousing: storage of goods in air-conditioned zones, the temperature of which is permanently controlled. Temperature-controlled transport: movement of goods in insulated freight waggons and trucks equipped with refrigerating sets.
Temporary warehouse
Place for temporary storage of goods to bridge two subsequent processes.
Terminal
A place equipped for the transshipment and the storage of Intermodal Transport Units (railway stations, ports etc.)
TKM (ton kilometers)
Unit of computation. Product of tons hauled and distance traveled.

Volume transported by rail
TQM Systems (Total Quality Management Systems)
Quality management system introduced in late 1998 and involving the following four objectives: Continuous improvements in quality Enhancing customer satisfaction Increasing efficiency Enhancing the satisfaction of the staff with their workplace
Tracking & Tracing
Monitoring and control of merchandise, loading units and consignments throughout from the point of manufacture to the point of sale. Tracking: provides, at any time, information about the whereabouts of merchandise in the warehouse or along the entire transport chain. Tracing: Following up a shipment in retrospect. Is of major benefit if recall is necessary

Moving Intermodal Transport Units from one means of transport to another.
Transshipment Facility
Special facility for transfer from one mode of transport to another mode of transport.
Transshipment Point Function
Corresponds to turbo transshipment in retail trade, chain-neutral supply of branch stores
Transshipment Warehouse
Place for short-term storage of goods between transshipment from one mode of transport to another. Transport-oriented movement processes dominate over storage processes. Objective: high transshipment speed
Turbo Transshipment
Direct transshipment of standardized consignments (rail-road and vice-versa). Represents a new logistics service provided by ÖBB designed to close the gap between the door-to-door BEX service and the handling of complete loads.
Twist lock
Standard mechanism on handling equipment which engages and locks into the corner fittings of Intermodal Transport Units (ITU). Also used on rail wagons, vessels and other vehicles to fix ITUs.
