Subsidy programmes for connecting railways in Austria

With effect from 10.11.2010 the parallel running funding programmes for connecting railways and terminals (ATF) together with the climate and energy funds on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) were bundled in KLIEN. The handling of the new applications is provided by the Railway Infrastructure Services Company (SCHIG) as the central settlement agent of KLIEN. The required forms can be found on the SCHIG as well as on the climate and energy funds homepage.

In the context of the programmes, investments concerning the establishment, modernization, maintenance and operation of connecting railways are being funded. These investments are expected to have positive effects on the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and the reduction in road transport services.

Details concerning the amount of the investment grants can be found in the documents of SCHIG as well as the climate and energy funds.

Also, the federal states of Austria (e.g. Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) support rail freight transport via connecting railways with grants or contributions for the construction of connecting railways.
